For one of my classes, we’ve been designing an exhibit display about the woodwork in an historic house. Tonight the house’s director thanked us by hosting a reception on the house’s roof. We managed to avoid the rain and catch some great views of historic New Castle, and even New Jersey in the distance.
If you’re ever in Delaware, I highly recommend visiting the 18th century streets of New Castle. The George Read II House is a real gem on the shoreline, and the interior punch-and-gouge molding is beautiful. After you take a tour, you should get some ice cream at Jessop’s Tavern and then walk down to Battery Park.
